Parents reading book to child

If you’re a parent, you know those special moments at bedtime with their kid’s books— when the day winds down, the lights are soft, and your little one asks for “just one more story.”

For us, it was the same. Every night, my son Kian would look up at me with those big, hopeful eyes and ask for a new story — not a book from the shelf, but one made up just for him.

So, I did what a lot of parents do: I made it up on the spot.
One night, a tiny character named Ian the Inchworm was born. A little inchworm who wasn’t the biggest or the strongest, but who had the biggest heart and the biggest dreams.

And to my surprise, Kian loved it.
Not just that first night — but every night after. He would ask again and again, “Tell me about Ian!”
Even my wife, Tanya, would sit close by and listen, smiling as Ian’s little adventures unfolded.

It wasn’t long before Tanya said, “You should turn this into a real book.”
At first, I brushed it off. But seeing how much Kian loved Ian — and knowing that there are so many other kids who need to hear they are “just the right size to dream big” — I finally did it.

And today, Ian the Inchworm is being read by families all around the world. A simple story, made up at bedtime, is now helping kids everywhere believe in themselves.

Ian’s Journey Continues — New Adventures Coming Soon!

We’re just getting started. Because Ian’s spirit — that bravery, that willingness to step into the unknown — is something every child deserves to carry with them.

That’s why the Ian the Inchworm series is growing, with three new books coming soon:

  • Ian the Inchworm Goes to School
Starting school can be exciting and scary! In this story, Ian shows that even when you feel nervous, wonderful things can happen when you take the first brave step.

  • Ian the Inchworm Goes Swimming
Ian faces a big new adventure — swimming for the first time! It’s a story about conquering fears, trying new things, and discovering how strong you really are inside.

  • Ian the Inchworm Goes to a Birthday Party
Ian is invited to his friend Spot the Dog’s birthday party. With cake, games, and a big celebration, Ian shows that kindness and a giving heart are what truly make you shine.

Why These Stories Matter

Let’s be honest — growing up can feel overwhelming for little ones. New experiences, new places, big emotions.
Each Ian the Inchworm story is written with a simple goal in mind: to help kids from 3 to 10 years old build confidence, ease anxiety, and believe in themselves.

Through Ian’s tiny steps and big dreams, kids learn that bravery isn’t about being the biggest or the strongest — it’s about taking that first step, even when it feels a little scary.

Just like Ian.
Just like Kian.
Just like all of our kids.

I hope Ian the Inchworm becomes a part of your family’s storytime too — and maybe even inspires a few new adventures of your own.
